Bronchial irritation with anxiety and stress

by Albert66, Oct 09, 2008 02:37PM
I have been suffering from environmental stress (source intermittent loud noise which I am unable to quiet) which leads to strong bouts of anxiety.  Currently taking Zoloft and Welbutrin, plus Atavan as needed.  Normal stress/anxiety symptoms (increased heartbeat, tightness in chest, knot in stomach) have now been added to by tickling sensation in bronchial passages, sometimes leading to coughing, these symptoms get worse as day goes along (AM's usually are OK) and/or if I get poor sleep night before then symptoms are magnified.  My internist says it is hyperventilation from the anxiety, which leads to irritation of bronchial passages, thus only solution is to get rid of source of stress/anxiety, but I am wondering if there are other possibilities out there, should I go see an ENT etc.

Thanks greatly.  Albert Lee, E. Prov., RI
