Bulging Fontanel (Soft Spot)

My son is five months old. After going to the doctor with a high fever and a bulging fontanel he was in the hospital for five days and was diagnosed with Strep pnemococcol blood infection. He received Rocephyn through IV and was discharged from the hospital and just fine.
Even after we got home from the hospital his fontanel would still be full...we went back to the doctor and they ordered a CT scan, everything came out normal. He has normal head growth and developmentally he is right on track for a five month old. He is active and eats fine. The only symptom he has is this bulging fontanel that comes and goes. This morning it was pretty full (still soft) it looked like a "goose egg" on his head.
I do not know if this would be related but he has always been a very restless sleeper and he is very squirmy....always very busy and active....but VERY happy and smiley!
My doctor says that it is rare but this can be a normal thing for some infants. Is this true? Should I get a second opinion? Am I missing something?
I am scared, has anyone heard of this before?

A bulging fontanelle can be caused by lying down, crying, or while having a bowel movement. It returns to normal when these activities are stopped. A CT scan looks for any structural problem causing increased pressure in the brain, and also looks at the spaces within the brain to make sure they are normal. If you are still concerned then an opinion with a pediatric neurologist would be reasonable. They can assess your child and ensure that everything is okay. Good luck
