Burning Pain in thigh plus sore hip joint

I'm a 38 year old male in reasonable health. For the last five to six weeks I've had a burning pain in the front of my left thigh that comes and goes. It's not on the skin but in the thigh itself. Also, if I sit with my legs crossed for any amount of time, my left hip will ache when I uncross my legs.

I carry a backpack everyday to work that probably is too heavy. I have a 6 month old baby that I carry almost exclusively on my left side. Could this pain be caused by compressing nerves or something? I've noticed that there's a "click" in my lower back when I walk and carry my baby sometimes.
