Burning Under Skin

by ESCAM, Jun 24, 2009 03:55PM
A couple of weeks ago I was taken to the emergency room because I had waves of heat radiating from my chest to my back and into my arms.  They did a chest x-ray, blood work and ekg, all of which came back normal.  The waves lasted from 7:30 PM to 10:00 PM getting further and further apart until they stopped. At the time I was on an new anti-depressent for my Fibromyalgia which I was told to stop as it may have been my serotonin levels going up and down from the medication.  I stopped the meds as instructed, but the waves continued on and off.  Now, three weeks later, the burning  pops up in my arms, upper back, nose and cheek and right shin.  If this is from Fibromyalgia, what exactly causes this sensation?

To: ESCAM,
This sensation is caused by stimulation of your heat receptors present in the skin. There are receptors for heat/cold etc and also there are free never endings. Even problems in the central nervous system causes this sensation.
Take care
