Burning sensation on skin accompanied by false sweat sensation

by pubdef, Nov 05, 2008 12:31AM
I had a stroke in 1999.  I have devolped a sensation of hot, burning skin accompanied by the sensation of excessive sweaating.  Touching of the skin reveals that I am NOT sweating.  I take Neurontin 200 mg daily for spinal pain.   I had surgery to repair a collapsed disc and medicine for diabetes and heart condition.  Can you tell me reasons ofr the sensations described?

Hi,

Thanks for writing in.
Diabetes is one cause of burning skin due to the fact that it causes peripheral neuropathy. Nerve compression can also cause a hot burning skin. Did the pain start after surgery?
Also is your diabetes under control?
