Buzzing Feet?

by Kayceem, Nov 28, 2007 10:42AM
Okay, it isn't painful in any way (yet) but about 2 weeks ago, I noticed that my right foot had developed a "buzzing" sensation. It isn't constant, but when it begins, it doesn't seem to stop until I go to bed.  It is a pulsing rather than continuous buzzing at that. I am very active, and I run from 16-20 miles per week. Is this something to be concerned about? I haven't been to any sort of doctor, because I just feel like this is probably some sort of "onset" to something more complicated. I hope I'm wrong.

Hi Kayceem,
How are you feeling now?
Buzzing sensation in foot is usually a symptom related to a sensory nerve being damaged, diseased, or injured. The area you are talking about is under L5-S1 nerve supply.
Usually it is physical injury to nerve like any nerve compression or direct pressure being applied to nerve, which causes these symptoms.
If any of these symptoms are increasing and annoying, then you need to see a doctor, probably a neurologist to rule out any pathological state.

I'm feeling fine, well, except for this hip pain (also on the right side)  that I had once years ago! The doctor that helped me with that called it a "hip pointer" and gave me a shot (cortisone?) directly into that spot. I haven't had that pain since, (that's been about 14 years ago, at least) but I have had bouts of sciatica maybe once every other year.  I never really tied the buzzing and the hip hurting together. The hip hurts when I go from sitting to standing, then it usually eases off.
Thanks fo ryour help!

Hi,
How are you doing now?
Your hip hurting you when you go from sitting to standing and then slowly eases off, although more suggest compression of Sciatic nerve.
Meet orthopaedician or physician who could help you.
Bye.
