Get her in to see a neurologist.  Could be anything from stroke to a virus.  She needs testing.

Is mom a somewhat healthy 85 w/ complete understanding except
for the walking? Does she have any tremors/eating problem/
noticeable memory problems that came on quickly? She needs to
be evaluated 1st by her MD & then most likely referred once they
determine what might be cause. If she can walk but only does a
shuffle type walk, it may even be something like NPH (Normal
Pressure Hydrocephalus). An MRI would show fluid on the brain.
Could be many other things. Clinical check-up would certainly
put your mind at ease & mom needs you healthy. Worry/stress
can affect you. If she's not in pain, it's a msg'g problem from
brain to spine. Gd-luck.
