CARTLIDGE SEPARATION FROM 8th RIB BONE

by Tom K, Feb 04, 2000 12:00AM
Good Morning,
I am a 30 yr old white male who recently had a fall causing the cartlidge to separate from my 8th rib.  I was wondering if surgery was common for this type of injury or is it just a "it will heal in time" type of injury?  Any help you can offer would be appreciated. Thank You

Dear Tom:

Sorry to hear about your rib injury.  I would defer to the orthopedic surgeon whether you need surgery.  Alot depends on the extent of the injury.

Sorry that I am not much help.  It is difficult to give you good information without seeing the films.

Sincerely,

CCF Neuro MD
