CAT scan of the brain

CAT scan of the brain

I did notice severe depression symptoms starting 4-5 months ago after severe flue that lasted about 3 weeks. I was not able to sleep, eat, and had high blood pressure (that is very unusual for me). I was diagnosed with severe depression, panic attack and started multiple meds that made me feel worse. I went to ER twice in 4 months period and was offered to be admitted for severe WT loss > 35 lb/4months and severe body/muscle ache, but I got scared. I do not think I have depression, but something else. Last ER visit CAT scan showed "acute frontal and ethmoid sinusitis with air-fluid levels". The doc said that I was fine since they did not see a blood clot,... I feel horrible. Could you explain the CAT reading since no one mentioned anything about it until I got copies from medical records. Possible GBS?
Thank you

Hi there. Your CAT scan showed air fluid levels in frontal and ethmoidal sinuses. This mean your sinus lining is inflamed and there is mucus discharge in it. This could be responsible for heaviness and ache in the face and headaches and discharge from the nose. The other symptoms could be due to depression and loss of appetite because of it. You will need a detailed workup for this significant weight loss including carcinoma workup. GBS would have caused progressive weakness in lower limbs to upper limbs. Consult a neurologist for evaluation. Take care.
