CERVICAL SPONDYLOSIS

I am 49 years old. Since last one year I am suffering from neck pain. I used to travel to long distances during night time. I used to travel around 500 kms by sleeping in a bus. I might have made about 50 trips to such distances during last 3 and 1/2 year. I also used to sit on internet for hours together my lengthiest working on computer is five hours. Now when I sit on computer, my neck starts paining within ten minutes. My neck X-rays shows Mild spondylosis. One of the doctor suggested MRI to be done as in his opinion there is no spondylosis. I want to do some exercises also for neck strength and also to cure spondylosis. I underwent digital and normal xray both digital xray shows details of the problem like in two vcs little problem is shown In normal xray report just mentions mild spondylosis. I require relating to treatment and whether really i have spondylosis or not. What are the exercises for this purpose. What is the treatment in case if it is a real problem. what is the precautions to be taken to avoid any future problems. whether it has connection with heart.

Yes, like the doc says you probably have arthritis. you need MRI to confirm.Xrays are not as helpful. Get a prescription for physical therapy asap.

good luck.

MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL
Hi there. Cervical spondylosis is caused by chronic wearing away of the cervical spine.  These changes can compress one or more of the nerve roots over time. Advanced cases spinal cord can become involved. Symptoms are neck pain, stiffness, loss of sensation or abnormal sensations in the shoulders, arms or legs. Weakness of arms or legs, headaches particularly in the back of neck.  there is limited ability to bend the head toward the shoulder and rotate the head. CT  scan or spine MRI, spine or neck x-ray, EMG, myelogram etc. conservative therapy includes NSAIDs, narcotic or muscle relaxants, physical therapy to learn exercises, cortisone injections to specific areas of spine, drugs like phenytoin, carbamazepine, tricyclic antidepressants etc. Hope this helps. Take care.
