CIDP and Insurance Companies

by Reginald-Young, Jun 24, 1998 12:00AM

It was recently determined that I have CIDP and IVIG is the treatment
being recommended by my doctor.  Here is the problem, my health care
provider has told me this is not a standard treatment.  One key point,
I am diabetic and my doctor explained why he does not think
steriod treatment is the best tretment for me.  While my health care
provider refuses treatment my condition is worsening.  This past
weekend I stumbled and injured my shoulder, its becoming
increasingly more difficult for me drive as well as walk.
What information can you provide that will help me with my
health care provider?  I would like any information, success stories
technical papers that will help me obtain the IVIG treatment.

  Thanks,
  Reggie

While we would like to provide you with information in this regard it is up to your neuologist to provide the necessary documentation for what he thinks the best treatment is for your underlying condition. If your doctor feels this is the correct treatment then it is there job to find the necessay data to back that up. While we all deal with insurance companies on a regular basis this is not the type of activity we wish to get involved with regarding our service. We do understand your position - good luck
