CIDP and Pregnancy - Liz I have some info

Liz - you posted a question about CIDP and pregnancy.  I was diagnosed with CIDP almost 6 years ago and have had 1 pregnancy since my diagnosis.  I am currently trying for #2.  I have met 1 other woman with CIDP that has had 2 children during her course of CIDP.  If you are still on here I would love to chat with you about it.  I am so interested myself to find other women in this situation.

Hi, I was diagnosed with CIDP when I was 17 years old. I am now 25 and about to get married and we want to start a family right after. I am a little nervous because of the CIDP. Were your pregnancies normal? Is there anything I should watch out for? Thanks!

Hi, I am 26 and was diagnosed with GBS in July of 2005, a week after I had my second baby. Then was diagnosed with CIDP after a couple of relapses. My pregnancy always brings out the worst in my case. I was hospitalized after my second and third baby cause of the CIDP. But I am taking High levels of Concentrated Aloe Vera Gels which has helped me a whole lot keep it under control. I am now tryin for number 4. We want to try one more time for a boy we have 3 girls. I would love to chat....

Hi, I am 36 and am looking into having children.  I know you both have had children.  My question is, what medications (if any) were you on during your pregnancy?  I am on 15 mg of Steroids every other day and get IV treatments of Gamma Globulin every 3 weeks.  I'm nervous because I've never been able to go lower than 10mg of steroids before I start having problems.  My doctor said a low dose of steroids is considered about 5mg.  I was just wondering what others thought of my situation.  My relapses are very bad and come on very fast.  Do yours?  I am also nervous that if I get a relapse during the pregnancy, what would I do?  You can't raise steroids.  The only thing I could do is get more Gamma Globulin.  I'm also nervous that the gamma globulin might not work.  Kla1, you mentioned that you were hospitalized after the pregnancies.  What treatments did you get and for how long?   How bad was your relapse?   Are the high levels of Concentrated Aloe Vera Gels for during your pregnancies or for your treatments?  I've never heard of that type of treament.  Thank you for your thoughts and let me know if I can help with anything!;-)

Hi! I have not really had those symptoms you are referring to.  I have had my skin feel like it was irritated, but it goes away.  Hot water will aggrevate my skin sometimes, especially if I am cold, and it will feel like frostbite.  Do you have numbing or tingling at all?
