  : my husband has cidp he has had all the so call mirical treatments with no sucess atall. we would like to know what to expectin the future. and is thij related to ald?

   I also want to thank you for the other info on the one treatment we have'nt tryed, I wrote down all the information and will ask our Dr. about it thanks.
    We have 2 more questions for yoU.
  1. What about him getting the flu shot, wehave two differant opions on this subject majority will rule on this one.
  2. maybe I will get it right this time, is this related or anything like ALS Lou gerricks deciease. Sincerly,We do say thanks.

Thanks for your reply.  1) There are not simple answer regarding the issue
of Flu vaccination on CIDP patients.  On one hand, CIDP is an auto-immune
process and the introduction of an antigenic element such the Influenza
virus can potentially exacerbate the disease process.  On the other hand,
if the immunological conditions of your husband is such that an Influenza
infection carries significant medical risks, then he might benefit from the
protection that the vaccination can provide.  2) CIDP does not bear any
resemblance to Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS), also known as Lou
Gehring's Disease (after the famous baseball player).  ALS is a neurological
degenerative disease when there is a selective damage to the motorneurons,
that is, the neurons responsible for the innervation of muscles; there is
usually, sparing of the sensory neurons in ALS.
