COULD I HAVE VAGUS NERVE DAMAGE?

COULD I HAVE VAGUS NERVE DAMAGE?

In 2006 I had neck surgery in which C3-4-5 were fused (partial corpectomy and fusion).  This procedure was done through the front of my neck on my left side.  Since that time, I have had difficulty swallowing....at first, nothing more than applesauce, etc. then progressed to fish, which becomes very small and is soft when swallowing; this lasted about a year or so after surgery.  To this day, I cannot swallow large pills such as vitamin supplements and sometimes have trouble with even small pills.  I have also had other surgeries, in my lower back and most recently in my middle back.  During the last surgery (May 2011) I was intubated during surgery since I was in a prone position; the anesthesia was delivered through the tube.  Since that time, my voice has been extremely hoarse and weak.  I attributed it to the air tube for a while, but it has not improved at all.  I have had other issues as well, such as dry eyes (I have seen an eye doctor and use prescription drops); GERD (Nexium twice daily, with reflux still occurring from time to time).  In the last year or so I have had episodes during which I have rapid heart rate, very painful stomach cramp pain at the top of the stomach, severe headache on left side of head only, sweating, clammy to touch, chest pain/pressure.  These recent symptoms have led me to be hospitalized twice.  They rule out the heart as being an issue - had catherization last year and have only 5%, 10%, and 30% blockage - normal for my age.  The doctors all seem stumped as to the cause of my symptoms.  My PCP recently suggested maybe an issue with my vagus nerve; she mentions Sojourn's disease as well.  Could this be my problem, and could it have occurred during my neck surgery?
