COnnection?

Have a 17 y.o. very very bright student with insignif. hx except for prematurity (3.5 lbs. at 34 wks.), and chicken pox at age 5. Adopted, no fam. hx.  Has 2 + yrs. of brain fog, encephalopathy. Has had all neuro exams (CT, MRI c contrast, PET/SPECT). MRI showed leukolmyalacia. All others wnl. All bloodwork wnl except has continuing low ceruloplasmin. Def. r/o WIlson's via genetic testing and usual methods. Tests positive for Lyme and bartonelliosis. Increasing cog. disabilities, autism spectrum, psych symptoms, AD/HD-like symptoms, thyroid problems, sleep problems.    Probably Lyme? But where does the ceruloplasmin fit in? Can it be causing any of these symptoms? Has been seen by excellent ped. Neuro and Gastro at Yale. Have R/O ALD, MLD, Gauchers, Wilsons.

Hi,
I have Lyme and it took me over a year to be diagnosed. By the time I was it had progressed to meningitis, optic neuritis, brain fog, cognitive dysfunction and more. I am not sure of the link to the ceruloplasmin but I can say that almost every lab value they checked was abnormal by the time I was finally diagnosed; ACE, Thyroid Peroxidase, FSH, LH, Estrogen, Sed Rate, Lupus Panel, WBC (high), RBC (low), BUN, Liver enzymes. I could go on and on. It was a very difficult time in my life but I am thankful for the LLMD who treated me and I am well on my way to recovery. I wish your child well.
