Can MS cause elevated CPK levels?

Hi there.

Multiple sclerosis, per se, may not cause the rise of CPK.  However, if there is a concomitant muscle problem such as muscle wasting due to lack of innervation from the nerves then it is possible to have high CPK levels.  It will also depend on what specific type of CPK involved since there are CPK specific to the heart or to the skeletal muscles.  Inflammatory muscle disorders such as myositis or dermatomyositis can also cause these elevations.  I suggest you take this to your doctors for a more thorough evaluation.  Regards and God bless...
