Calcification of the skull and headaches

Calcification of the skull and headaches

I recently had a CT scan done without contrast that revealed either calcification of the skull or meningioma.  I had an MRI with contrast done and was told that it is calcification of the skull (near the lining of the brain).  I have also had chronic headaches since I was 15 (I am now 36).
Does anyone know if there is a connection betweek the calcification and headaches?  Can the calcification be removed to relieve the headaches?  I am going to a neurologist but have been searching for information on the internet with no luck.
Thanks
Jenny

Hi there.

It is unlikely that this calcification is causing all the headache problems.  For chronic headaches such as in your situation, it is better to look into the angle of migraines as the cause.  This can be best evaluated by a neurologist, and also best treated by the same professional.  Make sure also that for now, you have adequate rest and avoid too much stress.

Regards.
