Can someone tell me a few things about neuropathy?

I accept I have neuropathy in my feet and lower calves (starting to notice it in my hands also). I accept the doctors don't know why (I'm not diabetic). What I need to know is how the neuropathy will progress. What should I expect? I started out with a lot of pain, burning, stinging, needle prickling, and such. Now I'm at the stage of some pain, burning, etc., but now I'm having more numbness. When my feet are completely numb, if that's the next progression, will I be able to walk? How will it affect my daily life? I've asked multiple neurologists, but none of them would address my questions. I'm hoping someone who is going through this same issue can shine some light. Thanks.
