Cannot climb up steps.

Cannot climb up steps.

I am unable to climb steps but I can descend holding to a railing.  I have Myasthenia Gravis.  Could that cause it?

Hi there. Though myasthenia gravis affects any voluntary muscle but muscles of eye, eyelid movement, facial expression, swallowing is mostly affected. Weakness of eye muscles, drooping of one or both eyelids and diplopia, unstable or waddling gait weakness in arms, hands, fingers, legs and neck, can all contribute to difficulty in walking.  However, this would cause problem in both going up stairs and coming down. Consult a cardiologist to assess your effort tolerance in case you are having dyspnea of exertion due to poor cardiac reserve. Hope this helps. Take care.
