Carbatrol and Adderall(adderrall)

My nine year old daughter was diagnosed with Rolandic Epilepsy a year ago.  Her physican put her on Carbatrol to control her seizures and Adderall (adderrall) to help her in school.  We have recently moved and a general practioner here said that Adderall (adderrall) could trigger seizures.  Do I need to change her medication?  Could you recommend a good pediatric neurologist in the Hattiesburg/Jackson Mississippi area?  Also, she has been behind in her school work which we attributed to her epilepsy.  Now that she is being treated, is it reasonable to assume she will be able to catch up?  I've also not been able to find much information concerning Rolandic Epilepsy.  Is there literature available to help me understand more about her condition?   Thank You.

Dear Cari:

The literature is vast on bengin rolandic epilepsy.  It is associated with a hereditary component in some children.  It is called benign in that by the age of 16 or so, the vast majority of children will cease to have abnormal EEGs and seizures.  Many epileptolgists do not treat these seizures, but if your daughters generalized, especially during the day, then most would treat.  Most all of the children with this disorder are normal.  Her school should pick up.  We have seen a few children who have what on EEG looks like benign rolandic activity, but the brain scan was abnormal.  But these children have neurological problems such as developmental delay or slow learners due to language problems.  Yes adderall (adderrall) can cause seizures, but usually when the seizures are controlled there is little to worry about.  If is far more important that the children be able to concentrate during school.

My mother has Non-Hodgekins Lymphoma and the doctor has said that the tumor is inoperoble because of it's location. It is in front of the Spinal column at around L8-L9.  She has arthritis and the tumor collapsed one of the vertabrae.  Recently, she underwent surgery to cut out part of the vertabrae and disc so as to decompress the nerves and alleviate the pain.
Furthermore my mother has a pacemaker and a filter for blood clotting. She has undergone chemotherapy for the past two years and she supposedly went into remission at one time for maybe a month.
The doctors mentioned another operation which was very long (14 hours) and grueling.  This was to remove the tumor or as much as possible and the procedure included entering through the front side, collapsing a lung, etc.  We all decided that this procedure would not be possible because my mother's health would not permit it and she would not endure it.
The operation she underwent was about three days ago and the oncologist said once she is healthy enough she would like to proceed with radiation.
I guess my question is how long will this rehab be more or less and is a second opinion reasonable to ask for.

Dear George:

Your posting does not deal with adderall (adderrall) or carbitrol.  

I would recommend using a new procedure.  It is a glue that they use for patients who are unable to undergo long surgery.
