Carotid Artery Surgical Nerve Damage

by KSB1949, Aug 07, 2009 12:18PM
I had carotid artery surgery in 2006.  Following that surgery I have a lot of electrical pain and numbness.  I have been told that the greater auricular nerve, anterior cutaneous nerve and supraclavicular nerve are involved.  The surgeon who did my carotid said he had severed the nerve??  It's been 3 years, I've been approved for Social Security Disability, the spreading continues.  Will this ever stop?  Will it ever get better?  Could these nerves have been repaired at the time of the surgery?  Is it too late to repair them now?  How often does this happen during carotid surgery?

Thank You
