Change in Gait

by Rahab, Jun 13, 2009 10:29AM
My 8 year old has a VP shunt and it has never been changed, however we were told to monitor her closely for any malfunction.  We have discovered that she had leg pain and went to the ER.  They took a bone scan and found nothing.  We notified her Neurologist who gave us other symptons to watch for that did not include changes in gait but after reading up different changes that could take place I found changes in gait could be one of them.   Could this be an issue with her shunt and I should pressure the Neurologist or continue with the Orthopedic who want to conduct a MRI.  This situatin has been going on for 2 weeks and her walk is getting progressively worst.  Even to stand.   She complains of no headaches or vision problems. Sleep patterns seems to be normal but we are watching that closely also.  No fever or vomiting.  But this gait situation has me puzzled.
