Thanks that could explain why I have such anger problems lately. Although I have only been on ativan for about 2 months. The ENT has put me on belladona-barbital, promethazine, and now the ativan at seperate times to see if they would help me. He thinks that I have a hightened sensitivity in my ear. I was on a very small dose of Lexapro for about 6-7 months that helped me cope with my anxiety, but the twitching started while I was on that. I have seen multiple Neurologists, but nothing has been found. MRI was done recentely and I had an EEG about a year ago. I am trying to stop the meds completely now because I have to go in for a different test at the ENT.
Thanks for taking the time to look at my post.
Stress and anxiety is one reason for twitches. The other reason is adverse effects of drugs. If these are not the reaons then you are advised to visit a neurologist for an examination.
The side effects of Ativan, Paradoxical effects: In some cases there can be paradoxical effects with benzodiazepines, such as increased hostility, aggression, angry outbursts, and psychomotor agitation. Paradoxical effects are more likely to occur with higher doses, in patients with pre-existing personality disorders and those with a psychiatric illness. Consult your Physician to rule out the adverse effects of Ativan which might be a reason for twitching. Take care!
