Chronic tingling sensations in my head and neck

I am a high school math teacher and mother of three children.  For the past year I have been having very bothersome sensations in my head and neck.  It started as a "roaring" sound (not a wooshing sound--more constant like a semi-truck motor) in my head and just got worse from there.  A "tingling" sensation doesn't quite describe it either.  The roar resonates in my head in an electric-like sensation that often goes into my neck.  I am not in pain, however, the sensations are EXTREMELY uncomfortable and interfere with my sleeping.  The roaring sound is very loud and hasn't stopped at all for almost a year.  I don't know if it would be considered tinnitus because I "feel" it, not just hear it. (if that makes sense)

About 7 months ago I saw a neurologist and had an MRI of the head done which came back "normal".  He said he was looking for an acoustic neuroma.  After looking up the symptoms for that, I really don't think it fits my situation.  I am not dizzy.  I do not have ear pain.  I do have occasional headaches, but they are not severe or migrane.  The main symptom is the loud roaring/electric-like sensation in my head and neck.

If a neurologist orders an MRI to look for an acoustic neuroma, will he/she only look for that problem?  Does my normal result mean that my ears are "normal" and have no tumors but something else could be wrong?  This problem is causing me to experience anxiety/depression because I am constantly wondering what is wrong.  I just want it to go away.  I really just want someone to say "this is what is wrong" and "this is what will fix it" but I know it is not that simple.   Any help or suggestions you could offer would be greatly appreciated.

I have that too!  Sometimes it feels like my head is going to explode!!!  And my doctor has no idea what I'm talking about, and my MRI is also normal!

Do you have a copy of the report from your MRI??   If so, it might be helpful for the doctor on here to read it and give you some possible suggestions or opinions.

I hope you feel better soon.
