Coma patients and physical therapy
Okay, first off I am asking this for information for a story I am writing actually, not for anything personal. I have two characters who wake up after 3 years in a coma. I need to know what the procedures these patients would go through after waking up and, how physical therapy comes about.

For example, do coma patients on average, at least those asleep for a long period of time, have a lot of problems getting moving again? Whats the average possibility of the patient being completely immobile? I know people get frozen shoulders and legs when they get muscle tears and don't use the muscle all that much, but I need to know about the muscle control of coma patients after 1 year, 2 year, and 3 years.
