: I am currently reviewing a Workers' Comp case involving a claim of long thoracic nerve injury from pulling down an overhead catering truck door of unspecified weight and unknown amount of force.  Pt. experienced immediate pain in rt shoulder.  Initially dx as shoulder strain/sprain.  Two months later PMD notes persistent pain and finding of winged scapula with positive electrodiagnostic studies suggesting isolated injury to LTN.  Suggests pt be off work 3-6 mos while nerve heals.  Questions:
  1.  Can overhead reaching to pull down spring-assisted door cause, WITHIN REASONABLE MEDICAL PROBABILITY, isolated injury to LTN?
  2.  If yes, will nerve injury heal in 3-6 mos?
  3.  If yes, could pt.perform modified work w/o overhead reaching, lifting/carrying  less than 20 lbs between knees and chest height, driving vehicle or other less strenuous work?
Thanks in advance,  I appreciate this type of forum for posting clinical case mgt. questions.
