Complex migraine ~ Still Feeling bad

Complex migraine ~ Still Feeling bad

I have a long history of migraines. I also have a right temporal lobe meningioma & a past hx of epilepsy though have not been on meds in many years.

2 days ago while having a migraine I took an Imitrex and ended up in the ER due to very vague feelings of "slowness" and several very different overall feelings in my body. My blood pressure was out of sight (166/99 pulse 124). The first thing they thought was stroke. After many blood tests, CT and other things, they determined that I was having a complex migraine. I also still have low potassium even after being prescribed a suppliment(slow-k) several weeks ago. This type of migraine was decribed to me and the concern that they can cause stroke like damage.
Ever since, I have felt bad. I am very week and light headed. I walk across the room and I am out of breath. I tried to carry my son into daycare this morning and had to put him down due to being so lightheaded and fatigued.
Is this normal? I read somewhere where a lady who had this type of migraine took several months to get back to her old self.
I am getting a referral to a Neurologist from my new PCM. I have been very unhappy with the care from my previous PCM ~ looks like i made the change just in time. I am currently on Calan Sr, Maxzide & Elavial to try and prevent migraines & to cover up other symptoms I am having.
I see my Neurosurgeon next week. We are planning on removing my Meningioma although she is dead set that NONE of my symptoms are caused from the Meningioma (meaning migraines, ice-pick headaches, memory problems etc...)
Thank you for your time

It is difficult for me to give you any clear answers without seeing you or your brain scan (for instance I do not know how big the meningioma is or whether there is any swelling, or brain compression associated with it).

Migraine can occur associated with confusional symptoms and is termed confusional migraine. Migraine can also present with stroke like symptoms such as weakness on one side of the body (although other caused such as real stroke must be excluded if this occurs). Migraines with these features are termed 'complicated migraine'. Although not fully understood it is thought to be due to either narrowing of arteries caused by the migraine or transient alteration in brain channels also caused by the migraine. This type of migraine is not uncommon, and can in some cases take several days to return to normal. The difference in treatment is that one is more cautious with migraine medications that can narrow arteries further (such as triptan or ergots, although they can still be used judiciously) and use of calcium channel blocker medications (such as Calan).

Low potassium unresponsive to supplements can be due to magnesium deficiency and you should have this checked out. Magnesium is also used to treat migraine (mechanism not understood). There may be some relation between body channels that use for instance potassium and calcium, and complicated migraine.
Being out of breath with dizziness could be caused by a nonneurological disorder, like a heart or lung problem and you should ask your doctor about this. You are doing the right thing in seeing a neurologist.

Thank you for your time.
My Meningioma is small 2.5cm x 3cm. It is right temporal lobe and it is depressing the brain around it. This is very clear on the MRI - but there does not appear to be any swelling.
I also have a cyst in the exact same place but on the left side.

I think that this is going to get interesting....just got a call from my ins. provider (humana/tricare-military) and my NS is no longer accepting my ins. I was going on March 9th to schedule surgery. They are going to try and get an exception but not sure it will happen.
So looks like I am going to be starting back at square one.
Thanks again!@!
