Confused about my back pain Dx.

by Boni0338, Feb 22, 2009 09:48PM
My MRI impression states that I have multilevel cervical spondylosis and bilateral uncovertebral joint degenerative changes with mild to moderate neurral foraminal narrowing and spinal canal stenosis at C4/5 and mild spinal canal stenosis and moderate bilateral neural foraminal narrowing at C5/6. I have pain in my neck, shoulders, down my arms to my elbows. The right is worse than the left and sometimes my right thumb aches like a toothache.  My arms feel weak and at times I drop things.  My arms feel like they are asleep frequently. My jaws hurt. I have also had four surgeries on L4-S1 with fusion.  I still have leg, back and hip pain.  Now I am unable to lay on my right side without terrible pain.  If I turn over in my sleep the pain wakes me up.  They thougth at first that it was my hip but now feels it is failed back symdrom.  My pain never leaves.  I am certain that spams is a big part of my pain as sometimes they are so bad I can see them in my legs.  I had a EMG last week on my right leg.  The doctor told me it was very hard to test due to the spasms and my leg was so tight.  I am scheduled for more tests next week. I take Lortab, zanaflex, and ativan for anxiety, still the pain never leaves.  I have taken every type of antiflammatories that all hurt my stomach and ended up with a GI bleed from mobic in Dec 08.
Now my questions:
1.  What does my mri mean for my neck?  My doctor told me but it was so fast that I am confused.
2.  Why would it hurt so bad to lay on my side? I ruptured my first disc in 91 and this is the first time I have had this    problem.
3.  I have had double vision for 2 years and they have not been able to tell me why.  Could this be from the cervical problems?
4. With my history what could cause my leg to be so tight and have the spasms?
For others who question surgery.  Everytime I have had surgery it has helped but I always end up back in pain after a few months.   My husband had Lumbar disc surgery 10 years ago and works like a horse.  So who knows..........
Thanks for answering my questions and just for listening.
