Contracting HIV

Dr. Paul, can a person contract HIV by using the same body soap?  Friend of mine bathe her daughter with soap that  her a relative bath with.

Thanks!

Hi there.

HIV is contracted through several methods:

1.  sexually transmitted, or unprotected intercourse
2.  sharing needles, or being punctured with a contaminated needle or any other sharp object.
3.  placental transfer from mother to fetus.

There is no evidence that using the same soap can transfer the HIV virus.

Regards.
