: What are the side effects oc Coreg aka carvedilol?
===========================================================================
Denise, I have not prescribed carvedilol so I have no personal experience with the drug.  It is a blood pressure medication approved by the FDA in September, 1995.    According to a pharmacy reference,  its main side effect is postural hypotension, which is a drop in blood pressure on arising from a lying or seated position.  This can cause symptoms of dizziness/lightheadedness on standing up.  Because the full effects are seen after 7-10 days, doses are usually started low and gradually increased at 1-2 week intervals to minimize this problem.  It appears to have little in the way of other side effects. In studies, it caused a similar frequency of various symptoms (chest pain, nausea, sinusitis etc) as in study patients NOT TAKING the drug.  (This does not necessarily mean, however, that this drug can never cause any of these things.)
I hope this answered your question.  If not, perhaps talking to a physician who routinely prescribes this drug may provide more information.  Please note that this information is provided for general medical education purposes only.  Please consult your physician for diagnostic and treatment options of your specific medical condition.
