I've had increasing burning pain and tingling in my extremities and now am feeling a "sunburned" sensation in my legs and feet. My doctor ran a B12 test, thinking it might be low, but it came back flagged high. Could that have anything to do the with burning sensation? (He doesn't think any follow-up testing is needed--just said I'd have "nutritious urine.")
Actually symptoms of deficiency and overdose of Vit B12 is same- a numbness and tingling. Conditions like polycythemia vera and hypereosinophilic syndrome cause high vitamin B12 levels. Excess VitB12 is also associated with several cancers as it helps in cell division. Conditions that affect vitamin B12 metabolism such as acute hepatitis, cirrhosis, hepatocellular carcinoma and metastatic liver disease also increase the vitamin B12 levels. Please discuss these possibilities with your doctor as soon as possible and get blood tests for the above mentioned conditions to start with. You need to take this up urgently. Take care!
