Could it be viral menengitis again?

Could it be viral menengitis again?

About a year ago I was diagnosed with viral menengitis and was hospitilized for 8 days.  I remember all the symptoms I had very well.  It started with the headache, then fever, then sensitivity to light it hurt my head to look in any direction without moving my head, then stiff sore neck, then whole body soreness.  The reason I am writing is because for the last week I have felt very "off".  It started last week with a horrible upper back pain, it hurt for me to breathe.  The pain in my back is now gone, but for the last couple of days I have had a headache, the same kind I got when I would look in a direction without moving my head.  It is not a constant headache, only when I look around without moving my head does it hurt.  I am wondering a couple things, first can viral menengitis recur?  Second I have had a lot of headaches in my life, but the only time I ever felt pain from moving my eyes was when I had menengitis.  Is there another health concern that can better describe the pain to me?  I don't have any of the other symptoms that go with viral menengitis.  Please help.

Was it definitely viral meningitis?  Were you informed what type?  Did a LP confirm that, and did you see an infectious disease specialist when you were hospitalized?  Have you had a recent illness/virus?  Cold/sore throat/ flu?  I've been told that sometimes a virus like a cold or sore throat or the flu can set off the cycle of pain again.  Just happened to me...I had a sore throat/fever a few weeks ago, and my pain has flared up all over again.  Migraines, head, spine pain and burning.  I had viral meningitis in July of 2000 and I am still looking for answers.  I'm seeing yet another headache specialist/neurologist next week.  I would suggest you might consider doing the same.  Make sure to get copies of your medical records from when you were hospitalized.  They will have the results of whatever tests were performed at that time.  Take them with you to your doctor appointment.  Best of luck to you.
