I'm curious to find out what exactly an EMG test is for.

The test entails mild discomfort. Small needles are placed under the skin and electrical measurements are taken.

The functioning of the nerve pathway is evaluated.

It is commonly used to confirm neuropathy, especially in diabetics.

It is necessary for insurance, veteran's diability, and workman's compensation purposes, among other things.

Hello,

An EMG is done to look for damage to the nerves in your body.  It can elicit disorder or disease in the peripheral nervous system.

This test is also performed to rule in or out carpal tunnel disease as well.

Sometimes it is performed in conjunction with nerve conduction test also.

I hope this has been of help.....
