Thanks for using the forum. I am happy to address your questions, and my answer will be based on the information you provided here. Please make sure you recognize that this forum is for educational purposes only, and it does not substitute for a formal office visit with a doctor.

Without the ability to examine and obtain a history, I can not tell you what the exact cause of the symptoms is. However I will try to provide you with some useful information.

I am not clear what type of cyst you are talking about. There is a type of cyst known as a syrinx that can cause abnormalities in pain and temperature sensation and if it enlarges enough it can affect other sensory modalities (such as vibration) and eventually cause weakness. This condition rarely occurs de novo, but may be associated with other neurological anomalies, masses, or be be secondary to trauma. If a cause is identified, surgery may be an option. For example, removal of a mass, or shunting the CSF, etc.

If the “cyst” is affecting your quality of life, you should be evaluated by a neurosurgeon for treatment options.

Thank you for this opportunity to answer your questions, I hope you find the information I have provided useful, good luck.
