Hi there,
Thankyou for your help, they say it cant be stroke because most of the symptons are to left side and mri clot showed up on left side of brain and dr said nothing to alarming to worry about....with regards to ms and dr saying that it is not i feel the result for that was far too quick, most ms sufferers are told after a long time, i only saw this dr and he sent me for the lumbar puncture and saw him again 4 months later to tell me results, he did not indicate anything else, which i was sad about as i want to know whats wrong with me...i am now being sent for bloods to be done to check for diabetes, hope you can assist me further, thankyou, look forward to hearing from you.
Irene
sorry I missed this statement you made
I wonder the doctor ruled out MS o quickly.
MS can take a while to diagnose
My doctor is Mark Cascione he is a Neurologist and president of the MS Society
He is one of the best doctors i've had.
MS Pathways has provided a MS home health nurse for me for free.
.MRI SCANS SHOWED A COUPLE OF LESIONS
Hi,
The symptoms may be of MS as well as Stroke. Your MRI shows multiple lesions as well as clot in the brain. The symptoms are the result of both the pathologies. A clot already present must be treated with Heparin or Warfarin ( thrombolytics or blood thinners) and not Aspirin. Aspirin is only prescribed for prevention of clotting. Once the clot has formed Aspirin is of little use. Please take treatment for the clot immediately otherwise it may lead to multiple strokes. Lesions on the MRI may be suggestive of MS. It may not be diagnosed on a single MRI. A series of diagnostic tests may be required to rule out the disease. While swollen feet are not one of the most commonly reported symptoms of MS patients, it is something a number of patients experience. Whether swelling occurs or not can depend on the mobility of the MS patient. Limited activity increases chances of foot, ankle and leg swelling. Please consult a good neurologist for treatment of the symptoms. Hope this helps you. Take care and regards!
You might also want to find out if you have any blockages in your lymph glands
MS causes plaque in the brain when the immune cells attack and destroy the myelin sheath that insulates neurons in the brain and spinal cord.
Without this there are no symptoms as you have described.
It sounds as though you have another problem
The blood clot could have something to do with it.
Most doctors treat a brain or pulmonary embolism with Coumadin and not aspirin
Find another doctor quickly
It sounds like you may have stroke like symptoms and the blood clot in the brain and the fact they put you on aspirin would seem like a doctor thought so too, though they really should have been much better at telling you about it! A close relative of mine recently had a TIA (or mini-stroke) and he had an "old" infarct in the brain show up on an MRI, which would indicate he may have had something happen in the past as well and wasn't aware it did.
Have you had an EMG yet for the numbness, etc.?
Swelling in the ankles is nothing to just pass over. I would go in and have them check out my heart and kidneys if I were in your shoes. CHF and DHF are both serious things that can cause edema in the ankles.
But only a trained physician can order the right tests to diagnose you in all these things, so please take all what I say with a grain of salt. I'm just a lay person whose giving you some guesses and suggestions as to what they should be testing about.
I have MS and it's usually a diagnosis that's made after they run many different tests to make sure it's nothing else.
Maybe it's time you found a different doctor. If you're not getting any relief or diagnosis, you need to be your own health advocate and locate someone who can figure out what's wrong and help you.
