Daily unsteadiness/dizziness accompanied by nausea, sweating and weight loss

I'm a 25 y/o male, healthy lifestyle!

Recently visited Hong Kong. First day I experienced light unsteadiness and nausea, kept getting worse. (Maybe from  flying 10 hours and eating grouper fish/bad food?) 4th day I had shrimp curry: caused stomach cramps/diarrhea. Unsteadiness and nausea increased, Upcoming days I suffered more symptoms. Returned 5 weeks ago, many symptoms still! Lost weight. Before trip 70kg/154pounds, now 61kg/134pounds.

Daytime:
• Anxiety, sweating forehead, cold skin and nausea when eating
• Unsteadiness/dizzy (during bad episodes: far- & nearby objects move slowly away/towards eachother)
Yellow/green, soft, partly undigested feces with mucus
• No appetite & sensitive stomach
Gas
• Fatigue, pale face, light headed
• Dry mouth, thirst
• Slow focus: far and close objects, blurry vision (occasionally)
• Fullness ears/wet feeling (occasionally)

Nighttime/resting position -> attacks:
• Pins & needles: arms, legs, head and chest
• Heart palpitations
• Heartburn
• Sweating
• Ringing ears

Tests:
• Blood tests - ok (liver, bldcount, glucose, sedi, thyr, chol)
• Allergy tests - negative (food-mix & shellfish)
• Feces test - no parasites, HP* positive
• Gastroscopy - ok (no ulcers, stomach biopsy ok)
• Balance test - results not back yet

Main Concern:
• Constantly unsteady! Notice it when walking/moving, NOT when sitting/driving scooter?! Feels like walking trough plane with turbulence: straight picture but feeling floor sink with steps. (like my body is yanked towards floor) Occasionally the room distorts: far objects/close objects move towards each other - when closing eyes & standing straight: I wobble like a round flask. Worse in small and dark spaces.

Information:
• In Hong Kong I got medication, 1 week: Duraxil, Gravol en Xanax
• Diagnosed: *Helicobacter Pylori 2x (2 years ago and 3 weeks ago) Treated with Pantopac: Pantoprazol, Amoxicilline, Claritromycine
• Has suffered from sinusitis, facial flushing and mild stomach issues

Hi Sankie, I have similar dizziness/ unsteadiness symptoms: I feel like I'm always swaying or on a train. I also have fullness in my left ear (my "bad" ear- I've had it get very congested and painful before), but what is scaring me now is the giant pressure on my head and the same feeling you have of "dropping"- like I'm on an elevator and it suddenly falls. I had that feeling sporadically (like 3x a year) since my sinus and ear problems started, but now it's happening every day and it makes my heart race and I feel like I'm going to pass out. Have you had any news from your specialists?

P.S. I too was on a 10 hour flight a few months ago. I'm thinking I might have had some barotrauma to my bad ear. The dizziness symptoms started about 2 weeks ago and I'm not showing any signs of improvement.  I have sinus and ear problems, and I started to get worried that my congestion might be causing an infection/ inflammation of the brain. I know I need to stop imagining the worst case scenarios but I am really worried now.

PPS. I also forgot to mention that I get the pins and needles at night in my left hand and my face (around my sinuses) tingles as well when I get dizzy, and like you, it seems to get better when I'm driving! I had a balance test done too and am waiting for the results. I'm glad I'm not alone in this, please let me know if you find out anything, I will update too!

Hi Jade,

I know exactly how you feel and I wish I could comfort you trough this hard period in your life. I wish u all the strength to work trough this!

My first two weeks I was worried sick, I noticed worrying only lead to stress/anxiety so your best bet is to seek as much distraction as possible as stress/anxiety might slow down recovery! I know this is really hard... Rest a lot, try different supplements and eat healthy!

I've had no news yet from specialists.

My aunt has had a brain infection and her symptoms where really worse then ours, she'd get really dizzy by just seeing light. She was constantly nauseas, anxious and vomited a lot. She couldn't walk without help. Good thing is she's recovering slowly! Your sudden falling feeling I've experienced that two times now while resting. It's really scary indeed!

Don't give up hope, the human body is incredible at recovering/coping with malfunctions.. Keep fighting for a proper diagnosis! Keep making appointments and be stubborn, don't let any doctor convince you "It'll heal in time" or "It's in your head". You know your body best! Switch doctors if he/she doesn't take you serious!

In the mean time: Have you tried over-the-counter nasal sprays to clear up your sinuses or rinsing your sinus with a salt-water mixture? You could try an inner ear cleanse with a salt-water + nasal spray mixture but I wouldn't recommend this without consulting your doctor. You can also try drinking gatorade or saline mixtures if it's a electrolyte imbalance (unfortunately this didn't improve my symptoms but it's worth a shot!). You can also try detoxifying your body trough cranberries/red beans/tea and other natural foods while eating healthy (vegetables/fruits/meats&fish) while avoiding certain foods that cause bacteria to produce toxins (bread/pasta/milk/yoghurt/sugar/potatoes).

I was wondering about how similar our conditions are:
• Are you tired quickly since the dizzyness?
• Do you experience spinning or only the unsteadiness?
• Do you get lightheaded when standing up fast?
• Are you thirsty/Do you urinate much?
• Do your legs feel weak?
• How do you feel when you're sitting/resting? Dizzy or clear?
• Do you experience blurry vision/bad memory/grainy vision?
• Any nausea/gas/anxiety or digestion problems?
• Do you sweat/tremble or get mood swings?
• Do you get heart palpitations? (increased sense of heartbeats)
• Did you test your blood count / blood sugar?
• Do you have ringing ears?

I wish you a fast recovery and I will keep you up to date on any new findings!
