Damaged nerve in elbow?

Damaged nerve in elbow?

About 10 days ago I hit my elbow playing with my 5 year old.  The area around it is bruised, but the when I apply pressure in just the right spot, it hurts terribly for about 30 seconds.  I have played Golf twice since this happened and experienced no pain during those rounds.  Could I have damaged the nerve, and if so, any thoughts as to when this might get better?  Not being able to use my elbow for "general" support is quite difficult and I am constantly leaning on it and being reminded of the pain.

Thanks for the help..

Hi,

Do you have a swelling at the site of the injury? do you get a tingling feeling at the site?

This may be a case of bursitis at the elbow which is not a type of nerve damage but a damage caused to the bursa of the elbow area due to sudden impact and subsequent inflammation at the site.

This may also be caused by the normal tingling caused by the impact on the ulnar nerve which is located near the elbow also called as "funny bone".

You may still have to visit the doctor to get a final diagnosis. In case this is a bursitis, then you may need to take some rest for a couple of days and use some pain killers as well as ice therapy to help you with healing this lesion. On the other hand, funny bone is a normal phenomenon and therefore needs no therapy but still needs caution.

Hope this helped..

I really don't have any tingling sensations at all.  I really don't feel pain in the area until I apply pressure to it.  The pain is VERY intense when I forget and aggrevate it.  The pain will be intense for about 30 seconds then slowly go away.  I just did a "rub" check of both elbows and they both feel the same, so no numbness at all.  Really strange.

There is no swelling, just a light bruise all around the elbow.  It has been 11 days since I did this now.

Thanks for any feedback you can give me.
