Dandy Walker Syndrome

by naill, Mar 07, 2009 03:17AM
My Grandson has Dandy Walker variant. His pre-natal and post natal scans (ultrasound and MRI) showed ventriculomegaly, small cyst in the posterior fossa, a stretched corpus collosum. he is now 10 months and basically is doing evrything one would expect. he does have one sot sign, in that he often has his right thumb tuckes into hi closed fist. He is rolling everywhere, sits with good balance , quite vocal with a good range of sounds for his age.
However, his last MRI done last week. is showing that his ventricles are slowly increasing in size. Now 40 mm. This is very scary. To date there is no intercranial pressure. Can you tell me what the chances are that these ventricles will continue to enlarge and eventually require shunting?
