:
A group of European scientists working at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine
on Pelham Parkway in the Bronx claimed something of a break through in deafness
research.  According to an article published in the April 30, 1993 Science, they
took mammalian auditory hair cells, placed them in a petri dish and induced
further growth by combining these auditory cells with retinoic acid (RA).
After this initial report, other scientists claimed they were not able to
independently replicate the Einstein Medical College results.  These "Technical Comments" were also published in the prestigious weekly Science magazine dated Feb. 3rd 1995.  I am not sure what the status of this research is currently -: which view was correct.
Anyway, this research raises the possibility that someday human hearing loss once thought irreversible may be cured.  With over 28 million deaf or hard of hearing Americans in the United States, there would seem to be an enormous medical market should such research prove successful.
I was wondering if you are doing any deafness research?
Could you identify any pharmaceutical or biotechnology companies involved in deafness research?
  Thank  you.
