my husband was diagnosed with NPH over a year ago. He had a Codman's programable VP shuntCyanotic heart disease Transjugular intrahepatic portosystemic shunt (tips) placed last July. It was ligated after a month because he had accumulation of subduralChronic subdural hematoma Subdural effusion Subdural hematoma Subdural hematoma fluid. It was opened again in December, but the pressurePressure ulcer was set very high (200), and then reduced quite slowly. His pressurePressure ulcer is now set at 110, and since there has been littleLittle noses decongestant Little tummys effect on his gait, his neurosurgeon sent him to see a neurologist. The neurologist suggested that rather than NPH he may have a degenerative brain disease, that is not Parkinsons, nor Alzheimers, but somewhere between the two, as he does have a significant walking and balance problem and a fairFair skin cancer risks degree of short term memory loss. He suggested that my husband try a Parkinsons medication - Sinemat - for his gait. Is there any name for this type of syndrome? Is the prognosis for this condition the same as for either Alzheimers or Parkinsons? ( My mother - and grandmother, and several aunts passed away from Alzheimers so I am familiar with the course of this disease).
