Demyelineting Polyrediculoneuropathy

My mother has got drug induced due to Abraxane (Chemotherapy)  peripheral  Neuropathy. She has been advised to take Inj Solumedrol 1 gm in 500ml NS over 3 hrs for 5 days. Kindly advice.

Without the ability to examine and obtain a history, I can not tell you what the exact cause of the symptoms is. However I will try to provide you with some useful information.

Chemotherapy, such as the taxanes, can cause a predominantly sensory or combined sensorimotor axonal polyneuropathy (i.e., multiple nerve injuries). Symptoms may include sensory changes or pain in the distal legs. This can be symmetric or asymmetric. It may also involve the hands or feet. As the neuropathy progresses, there may be associated muscle pains and weakness. The treatment is stopping the offending agent. However, the symptoms and signs may continue to worsen for several weeks after the agent has been stopped. There may be gradual improvement.
