Diagnosis of HIE, 9 mos old, enlarged left ventricle

My almost 9 month old daughter has a diagnosis of HIE. We recently had a head CT scan and I have been told her left brain ventricle is enlarged and it is something they will continue to watch. If it gets bigger, they will consider a shunt, but not at this point. My question is: what does research show with this type of issue? Does the ventricle get better, stay the same, get worse over a period of time? What can I maybe expect? I know this is maybe a hard question and almost an impossible question, but I'm wondering what research has shown.  They also have said that they see cysts on the affected areas of her brain.  What can you tell me about these cysts? Do they go away as the brain grows, stay the same, become a problem at some point? Any research materials or info you can provide would be greatly appreciated.  Andrea
