Disc Protusion in lower back

I hurt my back at work in April, and have had physio been seeing my GP and also  ortho surgeon.  Am going to the city for 2nd opinion with ortho and to see pain management.  Take nueronfen plus and panadine forte depending on the pain.  Suffer greatly when I do housework or doing things I used to engoy.  The CT says I have a disc protuding, but can I get help to overcome my pain

Thanks for the information, but I don't want to be on drugs as even nuerofen plus makes me feel awful.  Have also taken a course of steroids that helped when I take them but gave me bad side effects, like nausea, weight gain, insomnia.  Cant even go out to the beach without being really sore after.  I need guidance in what I can and can't do and to how long till I will be healed and get back to normality.  Can you please help me with this?
