Disk Herniation X seated lifting weight exercise

Hello Dear,
I wondering if I can go to a gym and seat at the pectoral machine and lift some weight. I will not stand only seated.
this tipe of exercise can damagge my psine situation describe below from my last MRI.?
Findings: Lumbar vertebral bodies are maintained in height and
alignment. Marrow signal is normal. The conus terminates at the
T12/L1 level.

T12/L1: Normal on sagittal images.

L1/2: Normal.

L2/3: Normal.

L3/4: Normal.

L4/5: Normal.

L5/S1: Broad-based disk bulge is seen eccentric to the left. This
does slightly impinge on the transiting nerve left roots. There
is mild narrowing of the central canal. Neural foramina appear
adequate in caliber.

** IMPRESSION **:
L5/S1 disk bulge as noted.

P.s. I am takin peridural steroid  injection once a year.

Thank you for your question. Although without being able to examine you I can not offer you the specific advice on diagnosis and treatment that you need, but I would try to provide you some relevant information about your health concern.

As your reports suggest that you have L5/S1 disc herniation, symptoms may originate due to nerve root pressure, pressure on the spinal cord and pressure on the tail bone. Common symptoms could be paralysis of muscles, pain radiating to the arms or legs, leg pain and numbness, tingling, or weakness. Therefore, further referral to a physiotherapist for spinal exercises, use of back braces, surgical intervention (such as diskectomy), steroid injection in back and pain killers could be beneficial and may produce relief of symptoms. You need a Rx for supervised PT using specific weights to strengthen the muscles in your back. This is imperative to keep your spine in shape to AVOID herniation of the disc.
