hi,cortical dysplasia is a congenital(since birth) abnormality where the neurons(nerveNerve biopsy Nerve conduction velocity cells) in an area of the brain failed to migrate in the proper formation during pregnancy.
Thanks for the response. My son has shown no signs of seizure activity at all. Only the developmentalDevelopmental dysplasia of the hip Developmental milestones record Developmental reading disorder delays. If he does not have seizures there is no need for surgery, is that correct? I have noticed that there isn't a whole lot of information available for this specific topic, does anyone know of any resources that are good? Thanks.
My son is now 4 and is developmentally delayed as far as speech and cognitive development. He is probably at a 2.5 year level. He was having seizures, but it took 8 doctors to find one that properly diagnosed him. He was diagnosed with cortical dysplasia. He did undergo surgery and is now seizure free, his speech has improved but he is still behind pretty far. I was wondering the same thing myself about information. The doctors gave me alot and they said he would be delayed but just to work with him constantly on speech. He is in speech therapy at school and then works with a private therapist 2 times a week. Is there anything that anyone has found that helps with this?
This causes the signals sent through the neurons in these areas to misfire, which sends an incorrect signal. It is commonly found near the cerebral cortex and is associated with seizures and may be associated with some level of developmental delay(s).
Surgical treatment is being propogated presently.
