"Drunk" feeling all the time?

"Drunk" feeling all the time?

Hello,

I've been having this issue for a little over two years now. It's a lot to explain, so I'll just start at the beginning. I am a 26 year old male with no diagnosed health problems. I don't smoke, very rarely consume alcohol, and have never done any sort of drugs.

In mid 2007, I had an episode of sinus tachycardia associated with the Wolff-Parkinson-White syndrome I had dealt with since birth. The medicine to correct it didn't work, so they had to shock my heart back into rhythm. Months later, I ended up having the problem corrected with a cardiac ablation. Some say this is related to my symptoms and some say it isn't, so I just thought I would mention all of that.

Anyway, it wasn't long after the procedure that I started having frequent headaches that felt like painful, stabbing, shivers, and sometimes I felt as if I was hanging upside down and all of my blood was rushing to my head. This is when I first noticed that something was up, because I had never felt these sensations before.

In January of 2008, I got an intense, stabbing headache in my left temple. It almost felt like the front, left part of my brain was burning. This headache was there every day for about 8 months. Eventually, it just lessened over time until it was gone.

Basically, all was well from September through mid-November of 2008, when things started to get much worse. As I mentioned earlier, I really don't drink now, but I have been tipsy before, and I started to feel that way all of the time. Since then, it has only gotten worse. I feel very woozy and out-of-touch with the rest of the world. In fact, I am struggling a little right now with typing this. I feel incredibly slow-witted, and to say that this impairs my day-to-day life is a huge understatement. My family often asks, "are you OK?" I feel like I'm on some kind of very, very strong medicine or something.

Sometimes this feeling comes over me in strong sudden waves, sometimes it feels like constant, tiny spasms. I can go for a week or so where it isn't really that strong, to the point that it feels like it's almost gone. Sometimes, it lasts for weeks and is so strong that I feel nauseous.

I got married last summer, and even though my wife is a wonderful, understanding person, I feel guilty about not being half as handy around the house as I would like to be. We would like to have children in the future, but I don't feel up to facing that task in the current state I'm in. Oddly enough, I find myself dreading happy events for the sole reason that I can't enjoy them because of this torturous feeling.

Here are some of the tests and medications I've tried since this started:

MRI: Showed spots from migraines and some kind of benign growth that is supposedly common, but I don't recall the name of it, normal in early 2010
Tilt table test: normal, in 2009
Hemodynamics: normal, in 2009
Cortisol stim test: normal, 2010
Tested for Cushing's syndrome: normal, 2011
Blood tests, normal

I've also tried taking something that was supposed to dry up any fluid in my ears. That didn't help, either.

When my only problem was the pain in my temple, I tried various different medications for migraines. One of them was Topamax, and it gave me very bad side effects, which were, for what it's worth, very similar to what I go through now on a day-to-day basis.

I've also been treated for anxiety, but most of my anxiety is, in fact, a result of the physical symptoms. I've been treated with klonopin, lexapro, celexa, and zoloft. None of these helped, I only got the side effects.

I'm sure there are lots of other things I have been tested for, medicines I have tried, etc.  It's just been such a long, tough journey that it's hard to recall every little thing.

I really appreciate you reading this and can't thank you enough for your help.
