Dx of chronically healed left vertebral arterial dissection

Dx of chronically healed left vertebral arterial dissection

I had a dx of left vertebral arterial dissection 6 weeks ago.  Had repeat MRA yesterday because I was still having headaches and wanted to make sure I was okay and also am planning on taking a yoga/dance certification course, of course being extra careful not to do headstands etc (which I never did do)  Now I am told I have a chronically healed vertebral artery dissection, that has improved nicely.  The neurosurgeon who ordered this originally said I am fine to exercise but do not perform jerky movements with neck.  Now the nurse said do nothing for a few more months.  The doctor is out of office for a while.  The original neurologist referred me to neurosurgeon which I did not need surgery and now to a stroke center and said to wait to talk to them about what I can do which.  I have appt. on Sept. 19th and the course starts right after that.  What do you think.  I want to be able to live my life, and have done some yoga, pilates, lots of walking etc. and am very healthy otherwise.  Please comment. Thanks, Wendy

Hi there.

Arterial dissections are really serious conditions that should be treated to the full extent of all subspecialties for the best care possible.  I agree with your doctor about the several neurologist and subscpecialist consult as you can receive better advise.

However, I believe that there would be no drastic aggressive procedures that will be recommended and that you may be allowed the things that you love to do.  These series of consults are more of ensuring nothing will go wrong.

Regards.
