Following your progress Kitlyn and just posted my experience. After my first MRI in Jul, my neurosurgeon wanted to wait for tick problem to clear and repeat the MRI. So in the end I had 3 radiologists and then opting for GKS 2 neurologists and their diagnostics--so I felt pretty comfortable that they all knew what the problem was. In fact there is a GKS (gamma knife) team, so even more opinions.
At first when I mention GKS to the neurosurgeon who had previously done back surgery 10 years prior, he said "Boys and their toys." Insisting that I would want the tumor out. But after he was more assured after the second MRI that it was a meningioma, he said he felt GKS would be fine. We were suprised by his reversal. Since over 350,000 procedures have been done, I was pretty comfortable. My surgeon was 86! But again it is a team. And, he was great! Just wait and research while the story unravels for you. Gives you confidence. Best wishes!
I apologize for the previous comment. It read so strange to me
that you'd listen to a stranger that just had brain surgery
that doesn't even know whats wrong w/ you & say surgery is next!
If Dr doesn't know, be patient w/ him & give him time to bring
all your symptoms together. You're not his only patient &
rushing for answers can lead to a break in trust. He got a 2nd
reading on mri so try to stay calm. Sounds like he's really
trying. Maybe ask abt a script for your anxiety so you can get
some good sleep? Wish you luck.
well I would never listen to a stranger on anything. I merely sick of waiting on the DR as he told em afte rthe second MRIw contrast, he would know more..and seems he s not tellling me or whatever. I have had lots of experience w DR's not the Brain type though. I have been given klonipin and i take it , to relax. He is the one that said we don't want to have to do a biopsy of your brain ,his words, after he said he didn';t know..whatever..
I'd swap brains w/ my friend & get that 2nd opinion. Why would
you trust having a brain biopsy on a 'I don't know'. You need
to get copies of MRI. There is a way of knowing the difference
from a tumor/spot/cyst/etc. The radiologist has a close
friendship w/ his machine. Gd-luck.
