Empty Sella Syndrome

by Marie K, Oct 08, 2007 08:12AM
My husband has been diagnosed with a totally empty sella (not caused by an accident) and degenerative disc disease in his thoracic spine.  For a year now, he has been taking Lyrica and Androgel.  His endocrinologist says that all of his levels are normal, yet he still has lower back pain, but even worse, he cannot sleep for weeks at a time.    He usually gets sick from lack of sleep and then his body shuts down and he sleeps, but the cycle starts over again every three to four weeks.  The endocrinologist says he might be depressed, but my husband says he loves his job and his life (which I believe) and he is a very positive person.  He's just bummed because he can't sleep.  He has also lost much of his sex drive.  The endocrinologist says that she can't think of anything else to do.  We think this may be a chemical imbalance in the brain due to the empty sella.  Should we pursue an appt with a neurologist?
