Encephalitis

by farah_zahra, Feb 16, 2008 09:20PM
Dear Doctors,
I have a son 3 y.o  4 weeks ago he had a fever (around 38-39 celcius) for 1 day. After the fever gone, he had a strange behaviour, he became confuse, keep babling, n unable to sleep. One week later after taken EEG test, finally he was diagnosed with Encephalitis HSV1, and treated with acyclovir intravena for 8 days. After took the medication, he became completely heal and behaved normally again. But a week later, he again had a fever for 2 days, and after that, he suffered the same behaviour (confuse, babling, keep moving, very little sleep).
What i want to ask are :
1. Is encephalitis can occure more than 1 times in a very short period ?
2. If Yes, how he should be treated, in this second time illness ?
3. Is there any possibilities that my son actualy didn't get Encephalitis, but another disease ?
4. Is there any other test that my son should run ?
